BHS SONTHOFEN

BHS-Sonthofen go back to the year 1563 when they smelted iron ore from the surrounding area. The pig Iron produced was use by the local nail smiths and armourers. The 19th century saw the advent of mechanical engineering with the company’s inventiveness being recorded with numerous patents. Filtration systems for process separation of liquids and solids have now been in production for over 50 years.

FILTERS

Candle Filter

Candle

The BHS Candle Filter is a batch filter. The Filtration and cake formation are effected under pressure. The cake is built up, washed and dewatered on candle shaped filter elements that are arranged in a pressure vessel. Assisted by a gas expansion of the filter cloth from the filtration side, the residues are released from the filter elements and discharged in a wet or dry condition.

This type of filter has no moving parts in the production zone as no shafts pass through the machine. The GMP compliant design and polished surfaces satisfy all the requirements of a fully validatable filter capable of CIP operation. The design is most suitable for pharmaceutical products and antibiotics. Using filter cloths in this filter even the finest carbon and catalysts can be retained so a particle-free filtrate quality can be obtained.

The Candle Filter is used in the following industries, chemical processing, agricultural chemicals and mineral products, oils and foodstuff and applications in environmental and energy technology.

AutoPress Filter

AutoPress Filter

A fully automatic, gas-tight pressure filter for the most critical process requirements.

The BHS Autopress filters are fully automatic, batch pressure filters with vertical with vertically positioned filter plates. Moderately to poorly filtering suspensions can be efficiently filtered in an absolutely closed system. Products that need to be processed in a sterile environment or in closed equipment for reasons of toxicity and workplace safety can be handled in the pure state.

Filtration and cake formation take place on both sides of the filter plates. The filtrate is channelled through the centre of the filter plates and drawn off through filtrate outlets. The filter cake is normally discharged in a pre-dried state. In addition, the cake can be washed, extracted, compressed, blown out and dried. At all stages of the process, the filter plates can be compressed to exert pressure on the filter cake.

The BHS Autopress is available as a Modular Skid as a complete system including pump, valves. piping and locally operated PLC control systems including purged panels MMI’s (Man-Machine Interfaces ).

Pressure Plate Filter

BHS Pressure Plate Filter

The BHS Pressure Plate Filter is a batch operated filter with high operational safety. It is used primarily for separating solids/liquids in average to poor filtering suspensions with relatively low solids content, for absorptive filtration processes (absorption using activated carbon) as well as clarification filtration processes

A filter cake is formed under pressure on top of each plate. The filtrate is discharged through a hollow shaft, After washing, steaming or blow out, the filter cake is removed form the plates by vibration and discharged at the bottom.

Rotary Pressure Filter

BHS Rotary Pressure Filter

A cake is filtered continuously under pressure onto a filter drum and treated in specific, pressure- segmented zones, eg. Washing, extraction, steaming and blowing and in this context, the solid, the filtrate or both can be recovered.

The rotary pressure filter is used for virtually all filterable suspensions that are produced continuously or in batches. Its full contained designed is particularly suitable for filtration of solvents and for products that need to be separated in contained systems, whether for reasons of toxicity or workplace and environmental safety.

Belt Filter

BHS Belt Filter

BHS belt filters are continuous, horizontal vacuum belt filters. The filter medium is an intermittently (indexing) or continuous moving textile belt. The suspension being separated is evenly distributed onto the belt. The filtrate is pulled through the belt and the resultant filter cake is washed ( once or several times), extracted, vacuum dried, compressed or thermally dewatered.

BHS belt filters can be used on a wide range of applications due to their unique capabilities; from fine suspended matter to rapidly sedimenting, abrasive and granular products.

The fully enclosed BHS belt filter is particularly suited for filtering solvent-based or toxic products and can be designed to meet GMP requirements for processing products in a clean environment.
